Our Wedding Work

When you make an appointment with Cherlafay Catering for a consultation for your wedding reception, our chefs will guide you step by step through the food and cake selection process.

There are two ways to price your event:

You can choose your menu and have us work up the cost

You can give us your food budget and we will work up two or three menus that are priced within your financial range while taking into account your preferences and any special dietary considerations.

Our wedding cakes are a set price unless you wish to have a special filling or desire to rent our cake plateau. The top layer that you save for your first anniversary is not included in the cost of your cake. It is our “gift” to you and we provide you with a box to save it in.

When you meet with us, we will present pictures of our most popular menu items and wedding cakes along with some sample reception prices. This will give us an opportunity to explain ingredients and cooking methods for any foods that interest you and also show you examples of how the food will be presented at your reception. We will guide you in selecting complimentary menu items and advise you on how much food you will need based on the number of guests and time frame of your reception. You may opt to browse through our wedding cake idea books or bring us a picture/drawing of your ideal cake. You will find that we are very versatile and extremely flexible in working with brides to insure that their wedding day is indeed special.

Even though you have selected a menu and given us a tentative head count, our staff realizes that oftentimes circumstances change. A bride that books with us has up until 7 days before the wedding to make changes in her menu and increase/decrease the number of guests. Of course if the head count increases or the menu alterations cause the cost to change, the additional expense must be paid when we arrive at your reception site.

Once you have selected us as your caterers and have chosen a menu and/or cake, we require a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 to “hold” your wedding date on our calendar. We will also draw up a contract that representatives from our company and the bridal party both sign. This is a binding contract that will be furnished to the bridal representative with a copy kept on file at Cherlafay. It will spell out the details of what is expected of us and the wedding representative. In the event that all decisions are not settled during the appointment, the contract will be signed when an additional payment is made after the $100.00 “hold the date” is presented to Cherlafay. A minimum of 50% of your total price (including sales tax) is to be paid no later than 30 days prior to your wedding date. The balance is due when our catering service arrives with the food. Some brides wish to pay the $100.00 to hold their date and then pay installments on their balance until it is paid in full. This payment method is acceptable to us as well.

Unless it is your wish that we only set up the food and then leave, our staff arrives appropriately dressed in chef jackets, stays throughout the reception, replenishing food as necessary, keeping used plates, etc. picked up from the reception area and leaves the kitchen facilities as clean as they were found upon arrival. If you choose to have us create your wedding cake, we will assist the bride and groom in cutting their first slice of cake and also assist your cake servers in how to get started serving your guests.

You may have noticed that there is no mention of decorations, table linens, etc. This is because Cherlafay Catering wants to insure that your food and cake are as perfect as possible. To that end, our chefs will spend their time solely on preparing the best food for your reception and not worrying about archways, balloons, bows, and flowers. Leave those details to a reliable florist and let us concentrate on the flavor, appearance and safety of your food.
